ABOUT THE PROGRAM

MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY

A choreographed triptych, MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY by Grace Yi-Li Tong probes the act of “cleaning” at the sites of: the female body, the Asian diasporic experience, and our atmosphere. Elements of sound, costume, character, and dance compose MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY as mimicry of assimilation— a relentless whittling at the rough edges of the Asian, femme, diasporic body by tides, winds, and voices.

Created by Grace Yi-Li Tong in collaboration with the performers

Original Sound by Colby Lamson-Gordon

Performed by Rachel Ha-Eun Lee, Hiroka Mori Nagai, Colby Lamson-Gordon, and Grace Yi-Li Tong

MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY was created with the support of the Snug Harbor Cultural Center Performing Arts Salon Saturday program and other individual supporters in 2025. MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY is an on-going, in-process work.

This is what I’d do if I loved you

This is what I'd do if I loved you is a dance theater duet that considers the way that fantasy fuels, and sometimes totally sustains queer, female desire. Guided by a series of "what if" questions, it fluctuates between realism and absurdity, attempting to capture the unpredictable nature of finding yourself inside of a type of love the world didn't teach you to want.

Created & Performed by Heather Dutton and Abigail Linnemeyer.

The development of this work was supported by Spark Theater Festival. Previously performed at Tada! Theater, Arts on Site, and Domingo World.
